Trans Tasman expansion is on the cards

Trans Tasman expansion is on the cards for New Zealand’s premier Christmas store, the Christmas Heirloom Company in 2018.

New Zealand’s leading Christmas store, the Christmas Heirloom Company, could be setting its sights on even more stores across the Tasman next year.

The Hamilton-based company opened a franchise in Adelaide this year which has been a major success.

“People have responded very well to our brand in Adelaide and it has given us the encouragement to look at opening stores in other parts of Australia next year,” says Christmas Heirloom Company owner, Wendy Whatford.

“The Adelaide public have been very impressed by the quality of our products and the general display of the store and have commented that it is comparable to the best stores they have seen around the world,” she said.

“The franchise holder in Adelaide first visited one of our stores in Wellington and fell in love with it. They knew then that this was something they needed to be apart of,” Whatford said.

The Christmas Heirloom Company operates 15 stores throughout the North Island. It began operations in 1986 and is the largest specialist retailer of Christmas products in this country. At peak times the company has more than 50 staff on board.

The Christmas stores get their annual makeover and open to the public from September 1 with a completely new range and are open through until December 24 each year.

“The Christmas Heirloom Company focuses on providing a total service experience and our staff use their expertise to help customers select the right products to create their Christmas,” she said.

“Every year we purchase from a number of countries so that we can present new concepts and display ideas to the New Zealand and Australian markets. Each year we bring in up to 1000 new product lines to ensure the range is always different and exciting.

“The moment the stores open in September you get that sense that Christmas is on its way. We have noticed that there is a general feel of confidence in the economy which has flowed through to retail spending”. As December 1st draws closer, stores are getting busier as New Zealanders prepare to put their tree up and celebrate the holiday season.

“Visiting one of our stores has become an annual Christmas tradition for many families, and we look forward to seeing the many familiar faces of our customers and their families in our stores before Christmas,” said Whatford.
